If you live in Charlotte, the first thought that comes to mind when you think of South Park is exclusive shopping at the SouthPark Mall and the surrounding upscale shops in the area. South Park is geographically centered at the intersection of Fairview Road and Sharon Road. During the summer month, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra plays its Summer Pops series in South Park at Symphony Park behind the mall.
It is approximately six miles south of Uptown Charlotte and is one of the largest business districts.
South Park takes claim to many Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola, Suntrust and Piedmont Natural Gas.
The area is not lacking in history. North Carolina Governor and U.S. Senator Cameron Morrison owned the 3,000 area farm that is what makes up the area of South Park. You can still drive by the Morrison Mansion, a 14,000 square-foot home there called Morrocroft during the 1920s, and the Tudor Revival/Colonial Revival residence. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and represents the beauty and appreciation for elegant architecture that is prevalent throughout South Park today.
